CodeGear have released some webcasts showing you a basic introduction to Delphi for PHP 2.0 and also a “What’s New” webcast showing differences between v1 and v2:

They have also created a new article highlighting what’s new:

A new article on CodeGear’s website says that Delphi for PHP v2.0 has been released. The full article can be found here.

Here is a quote from the article:

Delphi for PHP 2.0 can be ordered today, and is available for a special introductory price of $249 through the end of June 2008. Upgrades from Delphi for PHP 1.0 are currently $179. Special discounts for academic users, volume purchases and electronic delivery are also available. For more information on the product, visit http://www.codegear.com/products/delphi/php.

Here is a brief highlight of what’s new in version 2.0:

  • IDE enhancements in the new version enable you to do more and get your work done faster. New features and enhancements like the visual HTML designer, Templated Forms designer and multilanguage support give you more flexibility to build great looking Web applications. Other features and enhancements like designer guidelines, profiling, file management and filtering make you more productive by providing quicker access to the information you need.
  • The Code Editor has received a major overhaul for improved performance and stability as well many new advanced editing features like code folding, error insight, a change tracking bar, sync edit and source code formatting that help you better understand, manage and navigate your source code.
  • The new Database app development features in Delphi for PHP 2.0 make it easier than ever to build database applications with less coding. New native components for Oracle and new support for seven additional databases in the Data Explorer give you more choices and the new ability to drag and drop from the Data Explorer to the visual designer enables you to quickly build database apps with no handwritten code.
  • Improved documentation and additional samples to help you understand how to use the IDE and the VCL for PHP components to build real world applications.

There is a huge list of improvements, click here to download a PDF file containing all the improvements.

Well Done CodeGear, the new version looks great! :)

I Received the following email from CodeGear today (see below) about my support and maintenance agreement for Delphi for PHP which is going to expire soon. I like the bit where they say I will “receive a proposal” for the renewal. I sincerely hope that means all the people which purchased the support will get a discount due to the bugs and instability in the current version of Delphi for PHP? We can only wait and hope!!

Dear [my name]

With this message we inform you that your support and maintenance agreement with ID [agreement number] for Delphi PHP is up for renewal per April 13th 2008. In order to ensure continued support and maintenance to protect your software investment, this agreement requires to be renewed.

You will receive a proposal for the renewal either from CodeGear directly, or from a CodeGear representative company. If you wish to receive an immediate quotation, or have other comments about your support and maintenance contract, please reply to this message and we will respond to you within a few business days. Since the CodeGear representative companies work mostly independently, it is possible that you were already contacted for this renewal. In that case, you can ignore this message.

You receive this message since you are registered as Primary Contact on this contract. If you should no longer have this role, please reply to this message and confirm the name, phone and email address of the new Primary Contact.

For any questions you may have, you can also reply to this message. In case you wish to be answered by phone, please mention the phone number where you can be reached.

Kind regards,
CodeGear Support Center, division of Borland
