Great news everyone! José León from Embarcadero has posted a review on the next release of Delphi for PHP (Delphi for PHP 2010)!

You can read the review here!

Here is a brief snippet on the history of Delphi for PHP and why it has taken so long for this release to come:

After version 2, we gathered a lot of features that can be added to the product, and believe me, at this moment, we have enough features to keep working on this product for the next 5-6 years. We also made some tests to check if those major features can be implemented, and we realize that the current status of the code was not the right one to start working on them. That is, the project (initially called qstudio) had a very specific goal in mind, but none of the new features were planned when designing such product. Also, a major code overhaul was performed between version 1 and 2, so we had to choose: Add new features to the existing code base, working on a code not designed for that, or start from scratch with all the new features in mind. We decided to start from scratch, so that’s the reason of the delay.

Just read on the CodeGear site that Qadram software has signed an agreement to develop a professional web application. The application will be written using VCL for PHP… and the great news is the core of this application will be released under GPL which means we all get to download and use it in our own web applications created using Delphi for PHP!

The bad news is the development of this web application is going to take approximately 1 year

The application is planned to be developed in a modular way, in order to be reused for developing other software solutions, like e-commerce stores, CMS systems, etc.
